In the framework of the project for construction of a Center for Nuclear Research and Technology in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, JSC "Rusatom Service" held a course on Safety Principles in Center’s facilities operation (including research reactor) in Bolivia.
The course is developed by Tomsk Polytechnic University based on comprehensive approach to education amid development of complex understanding of nuclear safety issues.
From Bolivian side the Course was attended by senior and middle managers from the relevant ministries and departments of Bolivia, including the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Regulatory authority, the Administration of the Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivian Armed Forces and others. The trainees showed great interest in the Course and demonstrated that they have digested the information obtained on the previous course "Nuclear Safety Research their reactors" (9-13 July 2018).
By the request from Bolivian side during the Course, much attention was given to practical education – business simulations, case studies, workshops and other methods of adult education. Representatives from the abovementioned ministries participated in the trainings on principles of nuclear safety assurance, radiation safety assurance during the radiation sources exploitation, safety and security assurance during Research Reactor utilization, legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of peaceful atomic energy use, nuclear security, and accounting and control system of nuclear materials.
In the closing ceremony took part Hortenzia Jimenez Rivera- general executive director of ABEN and Mr. Ustinov - counsellor of the embassy of the Russian Federation in the Pluronational State of Bolivia.
