Nuclear safety is a priority for each and every individual
In the framework of the project for construction of a Center for Nuclear Research and Technology in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, JSC "Rusatom Service" held a course on Nuclear safety of research reactors from July 9 to July 13, 2018 in Bolivia. The course is aimed at forming the basis of a comprehensive understanding of the nuclear safety system and its basic institutional, legislative and technological components, the importance of integrated interaction at all levels – national, interdepartmental, within organizations and structural units, as well as the importance of the development of safety culture among the persons developing national nuclear power program.
The course was opened by Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Bolivia V. I. Sprinchan, General Director of JSC "Rusatom Service" E. A. Salkov, a representative of Rostechnadzor F. V. Kosov who delivered a welcoming speech from the Russian side. The chief Executive officer of the nuclear energy Agency of Bolivia Hortensia Jimenez Rivera represented the Bolivian side.
Throughout the week 25 students – representatives from 12 ministries and agencies, and representatives of the operating organization ABEN and regulatory authority IBTEN involved in the implementation of national nuclear power programme participated in the training on basic principles of atomic energy development and nuclear safety, institutional and organizational model of the national system of nuclear security, technical security fundamentals. Moreover, the audience was presented with the Russian experience of authorized organizations of scientific and technical support of Rostechnadzor. The format of classes provided for the use of methods of situational activity training and workshops.
The course is specifically designed for the project of CNRT with support from specialized structural units of the State Corporation "Rosatom" the Russian regulatory authority “Rostekhnadzor”, the national research nuclear University "MEPHI" and IAEA experts and takes into account Bolivian national traits.
The exhibition of reproductions of paintings by Russian artists, organized during the course in order to familiarize with Russian culture, attracted the attention of not only the students of the course, but also the world-famous Bolivian artist Mamani Mamani.
At the end of the course, the students were awarded the certificates of "MEPHI" on additional education.
